Grew up in the Ottawa area

 

Education / Employment History

1952-1955 - Ottawa Technical High School - electricity and electronics courses. 

1956-1959 – Spartan Air Services – aerial photographer covering most of Canada on Mosquito, DC-3, Cessna 210 and Anson aircraft

1959-1960 - TMC (Canada) Ltd - Test Department - took product training courses and specialty courses when available.

1960–1970 – Canadian Broadcasting Corporation – Radio Station CBO – Technician. Also continued to take many AM/FM/TV/microwave courses.

1970-1973 - Canadian Broadcasting Corporation – Television CBOT – Maintenance Technician for transmitters and systems. Still taking courses.

1973-1984 - Canadian Broadcasting Corporation – Technical Supervisor of Broadcast Transmitters. Still continuing on-the-job training courses.

1984-1991 - Canadian Broadcasting Corporation – Northern Service – Assistant Engineer. Even now still taking O-J-T courses when available 

1991 – Retired.

 

Amateur Radio History

 

1953 – First licensed as VE3ATN in Ottawa, after initial exposure to amateur radio through Ottawa Tech amateur radio club station VE3ML.

 

Regular check-in to the daily commuter Rubber Boot Net with weather observation and forecast.

 

Still do a lot of listening for that "new one" - a DX entity I don't already have confirmed.

 

Member of RAC, OARC, OVMRC.

 

Member of QCWA and Chapter 70. Served as Vice President (2000-2001). Member of the Organizing Committee (hospitality) for the QCWA 2004 International Convention. Received my QCWA “55 Years Licensed” Golden Certificate and lapel pin at the Chapter 70 May 2008 dinner meeting.
